How does it perform at very low outdoor temperatures?

EXINDA tests its residential heat pump range in climate chambers down to -35 °C and certifies stable operation at outdoor temperatures as low as -25 °C. At the standard test point of A7/W35 (7 °C outdoor, 35 °C water), the 6 kW unit delivers its nominal output. At -7 °C outdoor temperature, heating capacity reduces to approximately 4.4 kW, and at -15 °C to approximately 3.3 kW. What is a full DC inverter and why does it matter?

A DC inverter compressor adjusts its speed continuously rather than cycling between on and off at full power. A fixed-speed compressor would deliver its rated COP only at full load and waste energy by cycling at every other point. How it works and what is needed for installation

Operating principle

The Exinda 6kW R290 heat pump absorbs thermal energy from outdoor air through a large-surface evaporator, even at temperatures well below zero. The DC inverter compressor raises the temperature of the R290 refrigerant, which then transfers heat to water through a plate heat exchanger inside the monoblock unit. The heated water circulates through the building's hydronic system (underfloor loops, radiators or fan coils). In cooling mode, the cycle reverses, extracting heat from the water and rejecting it to outdoor air. All refrigerant piping is factory-sealed inside the outdoor unit, so the installer works only with water connections, not refrigerant lines.

What is needed on site

  • Outdoor unit placement: minimum 80 x 60 cm clear area, with at least 30 cm clearance behind, to the sides and above. Not inside an enclosed niche or against a wall that reflects sound toward a bedroom window.
  • Electrical installation: 230 V single-phase, dedicated circuit, circuit breaker 20 A. No three-phase supply required.
  • Hydraulic connection: two pipes (flow/return) DN25 or Cu22, insulated, running to the indoor distribution point.
  • Condensate drainage: gravity drain or condensate pump, with freeze protection in cold-exposed locations.
  • DHW tank (if installed): separate indoor space, minimum 100 L recommended for this capacity.

R290 is classified as a natural refrigerant and is already used in millions of household refrigerators worldwide.

What is the difference between this 6 kW model and the 9 kW or 12 kW?

The 6 kW covers homes up to roughly 80 m², the 9 kW suits 100 to 130 m², and the 12 kW fits 140 to 180 m². All three use R290 refrigerant and single-phase 230 V supply. Does it work at -20 °C? Do I need a backup heat source?

EXINDA certifies operation down to -25 °C outdoor temperature. At -20 °C the unit continues to produce heat, though at reduced capacity. For most Serbian locations, the 6 kW unit operating alone covers the heating demand. In extreme cold-snap scenarios or mountain areas, a hybrid setup with an existing boiler as backup is a practical option, and CENTRO-GAS engineers both sides of that system.

How noisy is it? How far from a bedroom window should it be installed?
